Flu
CNN is reporting that a nine year old Chinese girl has died from bird flu. From the article:
- The World Health Organisation (WHO), confirming the Chinese girl's death, said bird flu has infected 175 people, killing 96 of them since 2003.
Scientists fear it is only a matter of time before the virus mutates into a form that passes easily among people, triggering a pandemic.

Don't worry, affluent countries will be ok. I mean we will see people dying but it will mostly be old and really young people... i.e. not us. The countries that will get screwed are countries will huge populations of poor people living closely together in poor living conditions with little to no hope of medical aid. So China, India, Africa, Brazil etc. these countries will get fucked but we should be just fine. We have enough Tamiflu for us and we ain't sharing ;)
p.s. I know "Africa" isn't a country but you know what I mean.
